At Kiteleon Mediation Services, we are committed to transforming disputes into resolutions through skilled mediation. We invite qualified UK-based mediators to partner with us on an ad-hoc, contract basis to assist individuals and businesses in navigating legal conflicts effectively. The Concept

At Kiteleon, we believe in the power of co-mediation as a robust model for providing optimal resolution services across various types of disputes. Having two mediators in a session enhances the depth of knowledge and perspective beyond that offered by a single mediator. We invite certified mediators to collaborate with us. This opportunity is particularly appealing for newer mediators seeking experience and mentorship, but we also value the contribution of experienced mediators for complex cases.

The Arrangement

Once we agree to collaborate, you will enter into a contract allowing you to work with us as an independent contractor, titled as an Associate Mediator. Each separate case will have a distinct rider covering your involvement. You can terminate the contract at any time without obligation to participate in specific mediation cases, and Kiteleon is not obligated to include you in any cases.

Fees

Kiteleon will compensate you for each case as follows:

Co-Mediate Our Case: If we invite you to co-mediate one of our cases, we will pay you 20% of the total fee charged to the client. This option is tailored for newer mediators needing experienced assistance.

Co-Mediate Your Case: If you bring us a case and wish us to co-mediate, you will receive 45% of the total fee charged to the client. This option is also tailored for newer mediators needing experienced assistance.
Expertise-Based Cases: If we approach you for a case due to your specific expertise, you will earn 70% of the total fee charged to the client.
Observation: If you wish to observe a case for experience, there is no charge involved, provided we have availability and all parties agree.
Referral Fees: While you may not receive a referral fee for sending us a case you cannot handle (as this is deemed unethical), you may participate as a co-mediator, in which case the first fee structure will apply.

We use our own forms and templates to manage mediation services according to the latest standards and practices. Kiteleon will handle client onboarding, meeting arrangements, mediation sessions, and all related administration to the fullest extent possible.

Our Mediators

We seek UK-based mediators who possess:

A recognized mediation qualification (e.g., from the Civil Mediation Council or an equivalent).
Good communication and negotiation abilities.
A foundational understanding of legal issues, typically covered in approved training programs.
Appropriate mediator insurance coverage (not required until you conduct your first mediation with us).

As an associate mediator with Kiteleon, you will help guide parties through thoughtful discussions focused on exploring their needs and interests. Our process centers on:

Tailored Solutions: Assisting parties in developing unique agreements that meet their specific needs.

Our Mediation Process

We charge clients by the mediation session, which is the actual meeting where they discuss their case. All other activities are included in this fee. Typically, parties share the cost of mediation equally, though this is not mandatory. The general mediation process includes:

Initial Consultation: We communicate with each participant to understand the case and determine if we are a good fit.

Note: All calls, meetings, and mediation sessions are conducted online via Zoom unless otherwise requested.

Onboarding: If all parties agree for Kiteleon to mediate, we will onboard participants with initial agreements and fee arrangements.
Mediation Sessions: We conduct the necessary mediation sessions until the case is resolved, including emails, calls, and other communications between sessions.
Final Documentation: We ensure that the mediation outcome is properly documented and signed by all participants as required.
